This temple has great historical and mythological value. As per legends Vakulamatha is the incarnation of Yashoda who raised Lord Krishna in Dwapara Yuga. In Kali Yuga she was reborn as the mother of Lord Venkateswara. But in the Tirumala temple there is no shrine for her so this temple was built to honor her divine love and care.
Vakulamatha played an important role in the marriage of Venkateswara and Padmavathi Devi. She made all arrangements like any loving mother does. That’s why devotees say prayers to her bring blessings for marriage, harmony, and protection.

The temple is usually open from 6:00 AM to 11:00 AM in the morning and again from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM in the evening. On weekends and festival days the timings may be extended a little bit. Morning hours are best for peaceful darshan.
